The Bible will lead you straight to God

God calls every one of us to look past this life. Even if we lived to be 100, what is 100 years compared to eternity?

It’s so hard to see past the life we are living now. We know it will end, and the last thing anyone wants to think about is dying!

But when we die, we aren’t gone for good. Death is NOT the end of you. You weren’t created to live only this life. You were created by God’s will to live this life and also the one beyond it, your eternal life.

Death is a taboo subject, with good reason. People don’t talk about it because of the dread and fear involved. Totally understandable. There is only one remedy for the fear of death, and it’s not distraction.

How can a person not fear death? Is that even possible? Death is a brick wall. Who can make it to the other side? I can and I will, because of what I believe. Not because I’m special or super nice, or because I do good deeds. Not because I go to church or write this blog. I believe! That’s what I “do.”

I believe the God of the Bible. God the Father; Jesus Christ, His Son; and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God.

How can a person start believing in God? The Bible is everything. It can’t be overstated. It’s all there, and there is no other or better way of finding out Who God is than by reading the Bible. Read it as much as you can. Only when you really start reading the Bible can you start to understand what it does. Yes, does, because the Bible changes you as you read it.

You start to learn things that you know aren’t coming from you. You can tell when you get insight into something that you haven’t understood before.

I love to read Proverbs, often referred to as the book of wisdom. It’s after Psalms, and you can get to Psalms just by opening your Bible half-way. In Proverbs chapter 19, verse 11, it says:  A man’s discretion makes him slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression. [NASB Bible] Many times this Scripture has come into my mind. Holding back anger or judgement, cutting somebody some slack or showing mercy are all examples of God’s ways, and He teaches His ways to us in the Bible.

In Second Timothy, Chapter 3, verses 16 and 17, it says:  All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, for correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.[NIV Bible]

In Proverbs Chapter 2, verse 6, it says: For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. {NIV Bible]

In Psalm chapter 18, verse 30, it says: As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. {NIV Buble]

Jesus Himself speaks to all of us in Matthew Chapter 7, verses 24-27:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn’t put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

God is the Rock!

Buy a Bible and make it your own. Read it, write in it, keep it out where you can see it. Start to believe in God by reading the Bible.
